Aidoc's First Read: From detection to drafting

For years, radiology AI has focused on flagging pathologies for radiologists to review. That alone hasn't kept pace with rising imaging volumes. Increasingly, vendors are pushing further into the workflow from detection to drafting the report itself.

Aidoc's First Read is a clear example. Built on its CARE™ foundation model, it analyzes chest radiographs and generates preliminary report text, positioning it among the first AI tools aimed at report drafting for chest X-rays specifically, a first step in radiologists' workflows. The FDA has granted it Breakthrough Device Designation, its second in under a year after CARE Triage. It's still investigational, not yet cleared, but the direction is clear: AI is moving from spotting findings to writing about them.
