European Parliament adopts AI act

The EU AI Act is here: requirements for healthcare organizations

On March 13, 2024, the European Parliament adopted the AI Act, with 523 votes in favor, 461 against, and 49 abstentions. Touted as the world's first comprehensive horizontal legal framework for AI, the AI Act sets EU-wide standards on data quality, transparency, human oversight, and accountability. It is expected to take effect before the summer, and includes a three-year transition period during which notified bodies and AI vendors must achieve compliance.
